Summary/Objective:

The Credit Analyst is responsible for supporting the Bank’s credit underwriting process by performing preliminary financial analyses and risk assessments of new and existing clients. This role assists in preparing credit memos, gathering financial documentation, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards. Working under the guidance of senior analysts, the Credit Analyst contributes to the accuracy and timeliness of credit decisions while developing foundational skills in commercial credit evaluation.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the review and analysis of financial statements, tax returns, and credit reports to evaluate borrower creditworthiness.
  • Support the preparation of credit memoranda with relevant financial data, borrower background, and initial risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with lending officers and relationship managers to collect necessary documentation and clarify borrower information.
  • Monitor loan covenants and financial reporting requirements for assigned accounts.
  • Maintain organized records of credit files, financial statements, and underwriting documentation in accordance with audit and compliance standards.
  • Learn and apply regulatory guidelines, internal credit policies, and industry best practices.
  • Assist in tracking portfolio performance and identifying early warning signs of credit deterioration.
  • Receive mentorship and training from senior analysts to build proficiency in credit structuring and risk analysis.
  • Assist in monitoring ongoing credit quality by tracking covenants, portfolio trends, and borrower performance.
  • Assist in the development of risk ratings and provide input on credit approval decisions.
  • Maintain full compliance with federal, state, and internal lending regulations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiencies and risk mitigation.
  • Comply with government, regulatory, and Bank policies and procedures.

Other Duties:

  • Perform other duties assigned, in support of departmental goals and organizational priorities.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Junior Credit Analyst required.
  • Requisite – Requires foundational expertise in relevant credit analysis principles, with the ability to apply established procedures effectively in a professional setting.
  • Authority – Operates within a structured framework with limited decision-making autonomy, primarily executing tasks in alignment with established policies and directives. Responsibilities focus on supporting operational functions.
  • Analytical – Requires analyzing and categorizing information, requiring sufficient judgment to conduct routine assessments and make appropriate decisions.
  • Supervision – Operates in an independent capacity, focusing on executing assigned tasks without direct supervisory responsibilities. While collaboration with colleagues and departments is essential, the position does not involve overseeing staff or managing personnel.
