As an Installation Police Officer, DMVA with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), you will join a team that takes pride in supporting a vital military facility. This position supports providing police services and protection to employees, the public, and property at Fort Indiantown Gap installation by performing a wide range of police duties. As an Installation Police Officer, DMVA, you will perform the following duties:

  • Patrol Duties: Patrol buildings and grounds on foot and by vehicle to maintain safety
  • Law Enforcement: Enforce federal, state, and local laws through warning, citation, or arrest
  • Emergency Response: Respond to calls for assistance and determine the nature of reported emergencies
  • Investigations: Investigate accidents, criminal activity, unusual incidents, and alarms and document findings
  • Reporting Tasks: Prepare police reports, maintain activity logs, and document probable cause for warrants
  • Equipment Operation: Operate patrol vehicles, communications equipment, and other law enforcement tools

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are rotating shifts (6:00 AM to 6:00 PM) and (6:00 PM to 6:00 AM). You will have rotating days off.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission Certified Basic Police Academy (Act 120) training.
Special Requirements
  • You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania non‑commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
Other Requirements
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency Guidelines.
  • You must pass a physical ability test based on the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission physical fitness assessment standards.
  • You must possess a valid federal or state‑issued photo  pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must maintain an Automated Installation Entry (AIE) card once it is issued.
  • You must obtain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require medical examination and a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
