Job Description:
The Associate Scientist, Viral Vector Production position in the Cell Therapy Platform & Discovery group of Therapeutics Discovery offers an exciting opportunity to help develop novel Cell & Gene Therapies for unmet medical needs. We are investigating the use of engineered viral vectors for ex vivo and in vivo gene delivery to T cells to treat cancer. We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to execute viral vector production and characterization to enable preclinical studies.

- Support weekly small scale (30 mL) lentiviral vector productions by performing assigned tasks in accordance with established protocols
- Maintain cell lines for vector production and characterization with consistent cell health and strong adherence to safety requirements and aseptic technique
- Perform established molecular assays such as ELISA to meet quality control needs for vector productions
- Support purification of liter-scale LVV productions by learning to assist with downstream processing steps such as basic chromatography and buffer exchange
- Prepare, label, and organize materials, reagents, and samples for scheduled productions; maintain inventory records and ensure material traceability
- Maintain detailed records for vector productions to ensure traceability and data integrity
- Contribute to a collaborative, creative, and rigorous culture of scientific discovery
- BS or MS in Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Virology, Biology, or related field with 0-2 years of related experience is required. Industry experience is preferred.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique is required
- Experience with lentiviral vector production and/or isolation is strongly preferred
- Experience operating and executing in a core function is preferred
- Desired skills: mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique, transient transfection, protein or viral vector production, chromatography purification
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills are required
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple projects in parallel, are required
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams is required
