In this position, you will oversee the organization, maintenance, and monitoring of the integrated health records system for incarcerated individuals. Your responsibilities include coding diagnoses, surgical procedures, specialized therapies, program services, and treatments using appropriate diagnostic-related group assignments. You will ensure all medical reports and documentation comply with established documentation standards, DOC policies, and applicable federal, state, and accreditation requirements for health care.
Additional duties include filing, retrieving, and releasing health care records in accordance with confidentiality guidelines, regulations, and legal requirements. You will also review medical records and reports for accuracy and completeness, identifying deficiencies and returning incomplete or insufficient documentation for correction.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
- You must be in possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.
Post Employment Requirement:
- Employees who meet the Necessary Special Requirement based on the eligibility option for the RHIT or RHIA certification must obtain one of these certifications within 12 months of employment.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
