Melmark is a nonprofit organization providing clinically-sophisticated evidence-based special education, residential, vocational, and therapeutic services for children and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, developmental and intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, medical complexities, and other neurological and genetic disorders.

Behavior Specialist (RTF) Overview

The Behavior Specialist (RTF) oversees clinical programming within Melmark’s Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) for their caseload. The RTF serves individuals ages 5-21 with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental disorders. Services are provided in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatric and healthcare services. As the lead and responsible clinician, the Behavior Analyst develops assessments, function‑based interventions, behavior support plans, provides clinical training for program implementation, and ensures program fidelity for the employee’s caseload.

The position also oversees the role and responsibility of a Behavior Specialist and serves as a clinical supervisor in both the residential facility and classroom setting.

Schedule and Salary Information
  • Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. (flexibility required due to program needs)
  • Starting salary: $72,800.00 plus additional compensation based on years of direct relevant experience
  • New hire bonus: $20,000
Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Education, Psychology, or a closely related field
  • Must be working toward Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old; must be capable of attaining approved Melmark driver status
  • Experience in clinical service delivery and supervision within public or approved private school settings, and implementing evidence‑based procedures for individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and challenging behaviors
  • Preferrable experience in program management, supervising and training staff, skills in human resources, budget management, and running residential, educational or clinical systems
Behavior Specialist – RTF Responsibilities
  • Implements the Melmark Model of Program Development and Clinical Treatment across all RTF services
  • Maintains proficiency in professional practice, incorporates research into practice, and ensures treatment efficacy by recommending scientifically validated procedures
  • Ensures the delivery of Melmark’s Enterprise Data System (MEDS) and related electronic software for data recording and behavior objective implementation
  • Works in concert with all Directors, Senior Directors, and Executive leadership in the implementation of Melmark’s Strategic Plan
  • Oversees conceptualization of clinical programming and implementation within the RTF and classroom settings for respective caseloads
  • Supervises the Behavior Specialist in developing and implementing individual behavioral assessments (e.g., functional behavior assessments, functional analysis, preference assessments) and functionally based behavior support plans
  • Ensures consistent implementation of behavior support plans and reliable data collection across settings
  • Oversees the family training plan for the assigned caseload and participates in training assessments, progress evaluation, and ongoing communication with families as needed
  • Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary team for each resident, including attending and preparing for biweekly reviews, medication reviews, utilization review meetings, IEP/ISP meetings, and family trainings
