Behavioral Intervention Specialist
Qualifications:
High School Diploma, Associates Degree in related field or willingness to obtain, completion of the BACB Registered Behavior Technician training, ability to pass the BACB RBT exam within one year of employment, at least three (3) years of successful experience working with children in the educational setting. Preferably assisting children with behavioral challenges. Certification or willingness to obtain safe crisis management certification and safe crisis management certified trainer certification.
Such alternatives to above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Job Goal:
To provide behavioral intervention, coaching, and training to students and staff within the Shippensburg Area School District including general education and special education environments.
Essential Functions:
- Completes data collection to guide behavioral goal development and report progress monitoring.
- Complete data collection as it pertains to Functional Behavioral Assessments and Positive Behavior Support Plan implementation.
- Demonstrate a strong knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis.
- Ability to provide training and consultation within both general education and special education classrooms.
- Assist in the implementation of behavior plans.
- Facilitate tier 1 and tier 2 behavioral interventions.
- Serve as a member of behavior teams in schools at the direction of Student Services and/or BCBA.
- Consult with other professionals regarding student behavior under direct supervision of the BCBA.
- Coach and support teachers in the implementation of the behavior management procedures.
- Assists school staff in the development and application of behavior management techniques and strategies that supports the delivery of effective instruction.
- Lead and assist classroom assistant new hire training modules.
- Required to train and certify school staff in safe crisis management throughout the calendar year.
- Responds to student crisis situations at the direction of Student Services and/or BCBA.
- Participates in team meetings.
- Evaluates behavioral interventions via data collection models and best practices under the direction of the BCBA.
- Assist in facilitating student transitions between educational programming.
- Complete school observations for students demonstrating maladaptive behaviors.
- Works with school teams to provide planned interventions prior to the FBA referral and post-referral.
- Assist in observation of incoming students from Early Intervention.
- Assist in RBT role during extended school year.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Competencies:

Terms of Employment: 12 to 10-month position. Compensation as per the agreement between the Shippensburg Area Support Education Professionals and the Shippensburg Area School District.
Evaluation:
Performance of the Registered Behavior Specialist will be evaluated annually by the Supervisor of Special Education in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluations of supplemental employees. Supervisory Responsibility:
