Job

Purpose and Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within our stores. Technicians are often the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely and accurately while providing caring service that exceeds expectations. You will work in close collaboration with pharmacists, follow Standard Operating Procedures, and contribute to a safe and inclusive culture where all feel valued and empowered.

Core

Responsibilities
  • Follow all company SOPs at each pharmacy workstation to help our Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures—production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off—for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Provide compassionate customer service: greet patients, offer immunizations and other services, and resolve or raise patient concerns.
  • Manage basic inventory tasks: put away medication deliveries, complete cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting‑bin inventories.
  • Collaborate with the team, embrace a growth mindset, and seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including traveling to other stores in the market when required.
  • Comply with all federal, state, local laws, regulations, professional standards and CVS policies, including controlled‑substance dispensing, recordkeeping and patient privacy.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services such as immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and volunteer off‑site clinic staffing, where authorized.
Immunization Support (where permitted)
  • Complete additional licensing and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
  • Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccine questions to the pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public‑health requirements.
  • Review, collect and document patient information for each applicable vaccination.
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Comply with all state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy—including age, education and licensure/certification.
  • Meet the minimum age or educational requirements specified by the state board (e.g., at least 16 years old if not specified, or a high‑school diploma or equivalent).
  • Obtain required state‑level licensure and national certification, as applicable.
  • Complete any additional training and certification within the designated timeframe.
Essential Functions
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Show attention and focus: concentrate on tasks, shift priorities quickly, verify prescription information and label accuracy.
  • Demonstrate customer service and team orientation: help people kindly, read reactions and respond appropriately.
  • Use effective verbal and written communication; practice active listening and clear expression of ideas.
  • Apply mathematical reasoning to calculate dosage totals, days’ supply and bottle quantities.
  • Resolve problems by selecting the best course of action in challenging interactions.
  • Meet physical demands: stand for extended periods, lift, lift up to 20 lbs, reach overhead, operate pharmacy equipment, read small print, and use hands/fingers routinely.
  • Perform any additional tasks as directed by the supervisor or manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Experience in pharmacy, retail, medical or customer‑service settings.
  • Willingness to work in the home store and across the market to meet business needs.
