What You’ll Do For Our Patients
  • Collaborate with medical providers and medical assistants on tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.
  • Exercise professional judgment to provide health care services, including applying x‑ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients of all ages.
  • Perform and analyze patient x‑rays, and report results to medical providers.
  • Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of UPMC‑GoHealth Urgent Care centers.
Job Description

The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with medical providers and/or medical assistants to examine and treat UPMC‑GoHealth Urgent Care patients. The role performs a variety of technical procedures and applies prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, analyzes patient x‑rays, reports results to providers, and provides administrative support.

Job Requirements Education
  • High school diploma required.
  • Graduate of an approved radiologic technologist program required.
Work Experience
  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire.
  • State licensure as a radiologic technologist required at the time of hire (if applicable by state law).
Essential Functions
  • Responsible for x‑ray services as needed.
  • Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x‑ray services for patients by applying x‑ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients from newborn to elderly.
  • Ensure patients are positioned correctly on or in front of equipment and protected during use.
  • Assist patients in a wheelchair when necessary.
Patient Preparation and Rooming
  • Inform technical staff of patient flow.
  • Prepare patients for examination, including conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history, and confirm purpose of visit.
  • Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and elevate critical cases to the provider as needed.
  • Conduct point of care testing as needed (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide patient information to provider.
Administrative
  • Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files.
  • Conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up on care.
  • Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain QA/QC logs, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed.
