**** Education

* Required:

*** High School Diploma or equivalent
** AND
* ** 1+ years of working experience as a Medical Assistant in a Hospital, Primary Care, Emergency Department, or Urgent Care setting
** OR
* ** One of the following MA certifications at the time of hire (
* or must obtain within 12 months of hire):
** CCMA
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (verified through NHA, National Health career Association)
* CMA
- Certified Medical Assistant (verified through AAMA, American Association of Medical Assistants, or CHP Certified Health Professionals)
* RMA
- Registered Medical Assistant (verified through AMT, American Medical Technologists, or AAH, American Allied Health, or ARMA American Registry of Medical Assistants)
* NCMA
- National Certified Medical Assistant (verified through NCCT, National Center for Competency Testing)
* NRCMA
- Nationally Registered Certified Medial Assistant (verified through the National Association for Health Professionals)
** OR
* ** One of the following:
* Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, LPN or LVN at the time of hire (verified through state license)
* EMT
- Emergency Medical Technician (verified through state certification and/or the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians)
* Paramedic (verified through state certification and/or and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians)
** Required Licenses/Certifications
*** CPOE certification required within 2 weeks of hire if MA certification is not obtained at hire
* Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
*** One of the following certifications is required (or must obtain within 12 months of hire):

** Essential Responsibilities
*** Register patients and verify insurance and documentation
* Schedule appointments and process co-pays
* Prepare patients for examination and record medical history
* Perform vital signs and preliminary patient assessments
* Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
* Assist providers with patient care and procedures
* Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records
* Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals
* Perform opening/closing duties and maintain equipment quality checks
* Support a safe, organized, and patient-centered clinical environment
* All other duties as assigned.
