Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST)

Seeking full-time – 4 days a week Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST). No weekends, no holidays, no call.

Job Summary:

The Certified Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment.

Reports To:

Director of Nursing

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of sterile processing experience
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification required
  • Knowledge of sterilization methods, biological monitoring, and instrument tracking
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Occupational Exposure:

Category I exposure to blood borne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards, cleaning agents, and sterilization equipment may encounter radiation hazards.

Responsibilities:

Performs decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment. Adheres to AAMI and facility standards for sterile processing and infection prevention. Maintains, monitors and documents sterilization cycles, biological indicators, chemical indicators, and quality assurance records.

  • Demonstrates understanding of regulatory issues
  • Follows employee safety policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibilities
  • Keeps the Sterile Processing Department clean, organized, and adequately stocked
  • Follows infection prevention, employee safety, and hazardous waste policies
  • Attends all mandatory in-services and participates in staff meetings
  • Completes all mandatory education assigned within the allotted time frame
  • Remains flexible, adaptive and able to accept and implement new ideas and approaches
  • Treats all patients equally adopting the centers Patient Rights policy
  • Willingness to assist with other duties when asked

  • Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, pushing, and pulling
  • Ability to lift and/or carry 25 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to push/pull equipment weighing more than 25 pounds
  • Requires manual dexterity and close visual acuity for inspecting instruments
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (five or more hours per day)
