Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant - Hematology Oncology

Geisinger is seeking Medical Assistants for its outpatient clinics. Eligible candidates may earn up to a $3,000 sign‑on bonus.

• Provide direct patient care and clinical support to physicians and other providers in the outpatient setting.
• Perform clinical duties such as patient preparation, vital signs, medication review, and other provider‑directed tasks.
• Document in the electronic medical record and support a safe environment for patients.
• Provide administrative and clerical support, including patient scheduling, filing reports, and handling phone calls and billing inquiries.
• Assist with orientation of new personnel under the direction of the provider or site lead.
• Facilitate timely appointments, complete referrals and pre‑authorizations, collect co‑payments, and fulfill other clerical duties.
• Assist in laboratory work, phlebotomy, specimen preparation, and basic laboratory functions under laboratory supervision.
• Prepare and administer medications according to policy and procedure (excluding IV medications).
• Perform receptionist and clerical duties to support patient care and clinic operation.
• Document patient communication and education under provider direction.
• Maintain supplies, inventory non‑controlled medications, and record utilization.
• Prepare and clean instruments, follow sterilization and disinfection protocols, and set up examination rooms between patients.
• Follow hand hygiene and infection prevention precautions and monitor diagnostic equipment for proper operation.
• Participate actively in patient safety and quality improvement programs.

• Graduate of an accredited 1‑year certificate or 2‑year diploma Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required.
• Certified by one of the following associations: NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA.
• Minimum of one year of related work experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

• Certified Medical Assistants: $3,000 sign‑on bonus paid over two years.
• Non‑certified Medical Assistants: $1,500 sign‑on bonus paid over one year.

Monday‑Friday days: 7 am–3:30 pm, 7:30 am–4 pm, or 8 am–4:30 pm.
