The A-Team Mobile Crisis Program provides immediate, community-based behavioral health crisis intervention services throughout Allegheny County. Working in partnership with 911 dispatch, law enforcement, EMS, fire and rescue services, hospitals, and community organizations, our team responds directly to behavioral health emergencies where and when support is needed most.

Our mission is to de-escalate crises, reduce unnecessary hospitalizations and incarcerations, connect individuals with appropriate treatment and community resources, and promote recovery through compassionate, person-centered care. Every day, our team helps individuals and families find safety, hope, and pathways toward recovery during some of life's most challenging moments.

As a Behavioral Health First Responder, you will provide mobile crisis intervention and support services to individuals experiencing behavioral health emergencies throughout Allegheny County. You will respond to crisis calls in the community, conduct assessments, de-escalate situations, coordinate care, and connect individuals to critical resources and services.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Nursing, Education, Anthropology, Gerontology, Political Science, History, Theology, or a related human services field; OR High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant lived experience, recovery experience, caregiving experience, or behavioral health-related experience. Valid driver's license and the ability to safely operate a vehicle throughout the service area, ability to work effectively in community-based and crisis-response environments, strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries are also required.

Preferred qualifications include Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) credential and experience working in behavioral health, crisis intervention, recovery support services, social services, emergency response, or community-based care settings.

Full-time position, non-exempt, flexible scheduling required. Evening, weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage may be required based on program needs. Must be available to respond to community-based crisis situations.

Physical requirements include ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift, ability to assist individuals with mobility limitations, ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, ability to drive throughout the designated service area, ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions, ability to safely perform duties in community-based and uncontrolled environments, and ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
