** What You'll Do*
* As a Respiratory Therapist at UPMC Cole, you'll play a vital role in supporting patients with cardiopulmonary conditions. Your responsibilities will include:

· Evaluating medical orders and interpreting clinical data to guide treatment

· Operating and adjusting ventilators, oxygen therapy systems, and aerosol delivery devices

· Monitoring patient responses and performing diagnostic tests

· Assisting with emergency situations and transporting ventilated patients

· Educating patients and mentoring students or new staff

· Maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring equipment safety

· You must be a  
** graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program**  (approved by CoARC).

·        
** OR
* * if you're a student with a  
** temporary license** , you can start working  
** with HR approval and official transcripts** .

· You need to have  
** Basic Life Support (BLS)
** or  
** CPR certification
** that includes both classroom and hands-on training.

· You must earn your  
** Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT)
** credential from the  
** National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)*
* ** before your temporary permit expires** .

· If you received your CRTT  
** after July 1, 2002** , you'll need to  
** keep your certification up to date
** according to NBRC requirements.

* RRTs and CRTs will be considered. Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary based his/her individual experience, education, and certifications.

** Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:*
* CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

+ Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT)

+ Osteopathic Respiratory Care OR Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP)

+ Act 33 with renewal

+ Act 34 with renewal

+ Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
