Job Summary
The Disease Area Lead serves as the primary scientific and clinical subject matter expert within the Commercial Learning & Development organization, translating complex disease state knowledge, clinical data, and therapeutic insights into field-ready learning experiences for the commercial sales team.
Responsibilities- Serve as lead content expert for disease state education, developing and maintaining a comprehensive curriculum (disease biology, patient journey, treatment landscape, emerging science).
- Translate complex clinical/scientific information into clear, engaging, field-ready learning content.
- Continuously update materials based on latest clinical data, treatment guidelines, and competitive landscape.
- Ensure content follows adult learning principles and supports knowledge retention and real-world application.
- Deliver training via instructor-led workshops, virtual sessions, new hire onboarding, and national/regional sales meetings.
- Facilitate scientifically rigorous training to build clinical confidence and therapeutic expertise.
- Conduct field visits and coaching sessions.
- Partner with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Market Access, and Regulatory to ensure scientifically accurate, strategically aligned, compliant messaging.
- Integrate PI information, disease state education, and clinical data with the broader Sales Training curriculum.
- Submit and obtain approval of training materials through the Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) review process.
- Maintain current knowledge of regulatory/compliance standards; uphold scientific integrity and promotional compliance.
- Assess field knowledge gaps, monitor competitive/clinical landscape, and measure training impact.
- Define success metrics and refine programs based on feedback and business outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, or related field; advanced degree (PharmD, MS, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- 3-5+ years in pharmaceutical sales, medical science, clinical education, or related.
- Deep BU/category expertise (disease biology, treatment protocols, clinical data interpretation, competitive landscape).
- Strong preference: pharmaceutical sales training, medical education, or MSL experience.
- Strong understanding of oncology patient journey and clinical decision-making.
- Ability to translate complex science into commercially relevant learning content.
- Knowledge of adult learning and instructional design.
- Experience navigating the MLR review process and compliance with promotional standards.
- Proficiency with digital learning tools, LMS platforms, and virtual training technologies.
- Excellent facilitation/presentation skills for scientific and commercial audiences.
- Ability to travel up to 30-50%.
