Activities Assistant Shenandoah Manor Senior Living Community | Shenandoah, PA

Shenandoah Manor Senior Living Community is seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Assistant to join our skilled nursing facility in Shenandoah, PA
.

The Activities Assistant conducts activities for residents under the direction of the Director of Activities and helps ensure residents' emotional, recreational, social, and spiritual needs are met.

Schedule
  • Part-Time
  • Every other weekend and holiday required
Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including writing letters, making phone calls, registering to vote, and other personal activities.
  • Assist with maintaining records of resident progress and activity attendance.
  • Assist with mail delivery and escort residents to activity programs.
  • Help with flower and plant care, pet/fish care, and preparation of the monthly newsletter.
  • Assist with fundraising activities and making morning announcements over the PA system.
  • Conduct activities that provide entertainment, social interaction, exercise, relaxation, and opportunities for residents to express their creativity.
  • Provide craft supplies, materials, and equipment and supervise residents during craft activities.
  • Encourage residents to participate in crafts, painting, and other activities that promote socialization and independence.
  • Support the Activities Director with special events and programs as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous long-term care experience or experience working with the elderly or individuals with disabilities is desirable.
  • Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with residents.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
