In this position, you lead treatment sessions, provide counseling, and help maintain a productive environment for change at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) support program goals and guide participants through structured therapeutic activities. This role centers on providing counseling, leading treatment programs, and supporting rehabilitation efforts for inmates with substance-related needs. As a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Program Facilitation: Lead groups in therapeutic community or outpatient settings and support cognitive and behavioral growth
- Case Management: Develop case files, maintain charts, and create treatment plans that match program needs
- Counseling Services: Conduct individual and group sessions and coordinate with community agencies and resources
- Assessment Duties: Complete evaluations and make recommendations based on inmate needs and program guidelines
- Recovery Support: Coordinate meetings such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, or Double Trouble Recovery, and manage enrollment and attendance
- Training Assistance: Provide guidance to new specialists and attend required training to maintain skills

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $64,574.00 (before taxes).

- One year of para-professional and one year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and certification by the PA Chemical Abuse Certification Board as a "Certified Addictions Counselor";
or - One year of experience as a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);
or - Two years of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and a bachelor's degree that includes 18 credits in the behavioral sciences;
or - One year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting and a master's degree with major coursework in addictions science, psychology or social work;
or - An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 18 college credits in the behavioral sciences.

- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
