Nursing Home Administrator General Statement of Responsibilities:

The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for overseeing all housekeeping operations to ensure high standards of cleanliness, orderliness, and appearance throughout the facility. This includes managing staff, budgets, scheduling, inventory, and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of experience in housekeeping management, with at least 2 years in a senior or director role.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and control costs.
  • Experience with housekeeping management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and cleaning best practices.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Major

Job Duties:
  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the housekeeping department.
  • Supervise and train housekeeping staff.
  • Develop and implement housekeeping policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of resident rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure cleanliness and maintenance standards are met.
  • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, linens, and equipment; coordinate ordering and procurement.
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost control and resource efficiency.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., Business Office, Maintenance, Nursing & Nursing) to ensure guest or patient satisfaction.
  • Handle staffing needs including hiring, scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations and policies.
  • Address and resolve guest or resident complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and implement best practices.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities In:
General cleaning practices, ability to consistently do physical work.

Physical Requirements:
  • May require prolonged standing and walking.
  • Must be able to lift and carry supplies up to 25 lbs.
  • Fast-paced environment requires attention to detail and multitasking.
