Role Summary

Director of Inclusion and Belonging leads the US inclusion strategy, shaping a workplace culture that values, respects, and empowers employees to contribute their best. The role partners with executive leadership, HR business partners, and employees at all levels to drive a high-performing, inclusive organization and to enhance employee engagement and organizational performance.

Responsibilities
  • Primary strategist and consultant for the US Commercial Leadership Team; provide support and guidance to all BUs through Senior HRBLs, Business Heads, and BU councils (ViiV, R&D, GSC, and GF).
  • Provide strategic direction and consultation to the ERG Network through developing and maintaining an innovative, high-impact strategy and governance that integrates ERG voice, talent development, business alignment, and ROI.
  • Ideate, develop, and implement strategies that promote a high-performing, inclusive culture, drive employee engagement, and ensure ERG success.
  • Identify notable contributions of ERG leaders and employees and support US inclusion awards celebrations.
  • Provide guidance and governance for Inclusion initiatives/events across the US Market.
  • Collaborate with global and UK Inclusion teams to align global strategies with the local market.
  • Oversee management of 11 Employee Resource Groups, aligning objectives with company goals while fostering intersectionality and building capability.
  • Manage a $1M US budget, ensuring effective allocation and ROI assessment in compliance with policies.
  • Embed inclusive values into organizational practices, policies, and communications.
  • Develop and execute communication strategies to promote inclusion initiatives and foster a culture of belonging.
  • Leverage analytics to guide activation of Outreach and ERG-aligned strategies and funding.
  • Build external brand presence through partnerships, community outreach, and thought leadership.
  • Serve as SME on inclusion and belonging best practices and provide resources across all BUs.
  • Ensure alignment with practices from The Global Inclusion Council.
  • Facilitate listening sessions to understand country-specific inclusion needs and develop a more inclusive work environment.
  • Lead the social issues protocol team for corporate responses to social issues affecting morale, enabling risk assessment and equitable decision making.
  • Act on feedback to continuously improve cultural and inclusion practices.
  • Drive engagement through campaigns and partnerships; manage external speakers for events.
  • Act as a member of the HR Country Executive Board and partner with Recruitment, HR & US Fairness and Compliance, and UK Inclusion Lead.
  • Promote and lead the Inclusion Awards for the US market.
  • Support global submissions for external indices and positive outcome amplification.
  • Support the Global Inclusion Lead on key projects (15%–20%).
  • Indirect Reports: 1 – ERG Business Partner.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Organizational Development, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Required:

    Minimum of 7 years of experience in Inclusion & Belonging work, HR, or a related discipline.
  • Required:

    Demonstrated leadership experience leading inclusion strategies in a matrix organization.
  • Required:

    Experience interacting with and influencing senior levels in the organization.
  • Required:

    Strong knowledge of inclusion and belonging best practices, employment law, and organizational change management.
  • Required:

    Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Required:

    Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Required:

    Experience working with diverse cultures and building relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Required:

    Courage to speak up and challenge across all levels of the organization and leadership.
Education
  • Preferred:
    Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Sociology, or a related field.
