Human Resources Generalist

Overview

The Human Resources Generalist is primarily responsible for supporting human resources operations within a manufacturing environment, with a strong emphasis on employee safety, best practices, and workforce engagement. This role helps maintain a safe workplace, supports human resources & safety initiatives, and ensures employee needs are met across all shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Provide HR support and maintain positive employee relations with all personnel.
  • Coordinate onboarding of new hires to include training documents, annual refresher courses, equipment certifications, and job‑specific safety modules; maintain training records.
  • Monitor attendance, manage corrective actions, support scheduling needs, and maintain accurate HRIS records.
  • Assist employees with benefits questions, open enrollment, and leave management (FMLA, workers’ comp, short‑term disability).
  • Assist with recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Maintain the recordkeeping of safety programs.
  • Main point of contact for the sales team with customer pre‑qualified questionnaire (PQQ) information.
  • Partner with EHS to document incidents, near misses, and injuries; assist with root‑cause analysis and corrective action follow‑up.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, support audits, and ensure compliance with various federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assist with the management of workers’ compensation claims and return to work/restricted duty programs.
  • Records equipment inspections and certifications.
  • Keep client safety system information up to date.
Qualifications
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Service mindset
  • Effective communicator, generating professional written material and delivering effective verbal presentations.
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience:

    2–4 years of HR experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    HRIS proficiency; familiarity with HRIS systems; strong Word and Excel skills; comfort with safety reporting tools.
  • Soft Skills:

    Strong communication, conflict resolution, adaptability, and ability to work effectively with all staff.
  • Certifications:

    CP or PHR beneficial; OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 beneficial.
