The Human Resources & Office Administrator is responsible for managing the day-to-day HR functions and keeping the office running smoothly. This role supports employees throughout their employment, maintains accurate records, assists with recruiting and onboarding, coordinates benefits and payroll information, and helps create an organized and professional workplace.
Responsibilities Human Resources- Coordinate recruiting, interviews, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding.
- Maintain employee files and HR records accurately and confidentially.
- Prepare job descriptions, offer letters, and other HR documents.
- Coordinate employee benefits, enrollment changes, and employee communications.
- Process payroll-related changes, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, PTO, and deductions.
- Assist with workers' compensation, unemployment claims, leave requests, and employee accommodations.
- Maintain the employee handbook, HR policies, and company procedures.
- Support employee performance reviews and maintain review schedules.
- Respond to employee questions while handling confidential information professionally.
- Conduct exit interviews and recommend improvements to employee retention.
- Prepare HR reports and maintain employment records.
- Work with payroll providers, benefit brokers, recruiters, and other HR vendors.
- Keep the office organized, stocked, and operating efficiently.
- Manage office supplies, equipment, mail, and vendor relationships.
- Coordinate office maintenance, repairs, and service providers.
- Assist with scheduling meetings, company events, and employee training.
- Maintain office files, calendars, and administrative procedures.
- Scan and organize files.
- Assist the Finance department as needed.
- Support leadership with special projects and administrative tasks.
- 1–3+ years of Human Resources experience.
- Experience with recruiting, onboarding, employee records, benefits, and payroll administration.
- Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new software.
- Ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with a diverse workforce.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification.
- Experience with HRIS systems, workers' compensation, unemployment, payroll, and prevailing wage administration.
- Familiarity working with Amish employees or experience supporting an Amish workforce is strongly preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing, construction, or operations environment.
- Previous office administration or office management experience.
