Position: Business Intelligence (BI) Developer
Location: Simpson

PURPOSE

As a Business Intelligence Developer, you will develop and assist in managing all KPI reporting, data engineering, performance analysis, operational analysis, dashboard development, and predictive modeling. You will be responsible for the delivery of data solutions for internal business teams throughout the organization – including businesses, value streams, support services, and executive leadership. You may collaborate with anyone from the wider Gentex organization to create holistic data solutions.

The successful candidate is a disciplined professional with good organizational skills and proven experience in data analytics and management.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Design, develop, and maintain BI solutions—including Qlik dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics that enhance the end‑user experience and support data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Partner with end users to gather requirements, deliver insights, provide training, and ensure BI tools effectively meet business needs.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve data discrepancies and technical issues to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and trust in BI outputs.
  • Support data integration and ETL efforts, including the occasional development of SAP ABAP CDS Views, ensuring proper alignment with SAP, SQL Server and BI standards.
  • Continuously improve BI solutions by staying current with new features, performance optimizations, and best practices across Qlik Cloud, SQL Server/SSMS, SAP, and related technologies.
Requirements EDUCATION AND/OR PROFESSIONAL LICENSE(s)

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Data Analytics, Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

EXPERIENCE

2‑5 years of experience in business intelligence, analytics or data management.

Understanding of business processes of an engineering and manufacturing business, data modeling, data quality, and data governance principles.

Must have experience delivering BI solutions using Qlik Cloud Government.

Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP S/4

HANA and underlying data structures.

Experience in extracting, querying and modeling data in SQL Server or similar relational databases.

Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.

KNOWLEDGE,

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Technical Knowledge
  • Knowledgeable on Qlik Cloud products, Qlik Automate, AutoML, Predict, and other supporting Qlik Cloud tools.
  • Strong proficiency in Qlik load scripting, data modeling techniques (star schemas, link tables, canonical models), and performance optimization, combined with experience designing and optimizing front‑end visualizations and analytics, including chart configuration, expressions, set analysis, interactivity, what‑if set up, and performance‑aware design.
  • Proficient SQL skills, understanding proper joins, common table expressions (CTE’s), data type matching, analysis and query tuning.
  • Understanding of SAP S/4

    HANA data structures and analytical concepts for ABAP Development.
  • Familiarity with data source governance, data quality, and version control practices (e.g., Git Hub), with the ability to adopt additional languages or tools such as Python or other similar languages as analytics and data needs evolve.
Analytical & Professional Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate business questions into scalable data and analytics solutions.
  • Experience defining and maintaining KPIs and business metrics.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders from all levels of personnel up to the Executive leadership team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Position requires daily contact with employees, all departments, and management. Has contact with other locations on a frequent basis.
