Job Overview

Johnson & Johnson is recruiting a Senior Director, Immunology Data & AI Systems for its Immunology R&D Data Science & Digital Health team. The role will accelerate Immunology R&D by developing data products and AI solutions that support the entire research pipeline. The position reports to the Vice President, Immunology and Cardiopulmonary, DSDH, and will lead a technical team to create enterprise‑wide data products and deploy scalable AI models.

• Lead a team to develop technical requirements for Immunology‑focused data products that enable AI applications; attract, upskill and retain top talent.
• Define and maintain a roadmap for Immunology data products spanning discovery, translational research, clinical development, and real‑world evidence.
• Partner with Knowledge Management, Data Platforms & Governance, and Master Data Management to ensure seamless integration into enterprise ontologies, knowledge graphs, and catalogs.
• Lead a team that works with key business partners to develop and deploy scalable AI solutions for Immunology.
• Contribute to the development and governance of an Immunology Ontology to enable semantic consistency across discovery, clinical, regulatory, and real‑world data.
• Establish governance models, agile delivery processes, and value‑tracking metrics for Immunology data products and AI tools.
• Champion data literacy and adoption within the Immunology therapeutic area.

• Advanced degree (PhD) in Computer Science, AI/ML, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of post‑academic, industry, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with high‑dimensional, multi‑modal Immunology data sets, including omics, imaging, translational, clinical trials, and real‑world evidence.
• Extensive experience creating scalable, data‑driven solutions and managing their full life cycle (design, development, testing, deployment, operations & maintenance).
• Strong people‑leadership skills and ability to work in a matrixed organization.
• Deep knowledge of data products, database design, data transformation, and mapping.
• Excellent communication skills and strategic thinking capabilities.

• Experience in the Life Sciences, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical or Medical Tech sector.
• Experience with Immunology Ontology enterprise metadata standards and external frameworks (e.g., CDISC, GA4GH, FHIR, NCI Thesaurus).
• Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive adoption of new data capabilities across a complex organization.

Base pay range: $196,000 to $342,700. The position is eligible for an annual performance bonus. Employees may participate in company‑sponsored benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑ and long‑term disability, business accident insurance, group legal insurance, a consolidated retirement plan (pension) and 401(k) savings plan. Time‑off benefits include up to 120 hours of vacation per calendar year, up to 40 hours of sick time, up to 13 days of holiday pay (including floating holidays) and up to 40 hours of personal and family time.
