HPC Infrastructure Platform Lead

The IT Platform Consultant serves as a key partner between business stakeholders, operations teams, and enterprise infrastructure organizations to support a large-scale High Performance Computing (HPC) environment used for engineering, modeling, and simulation workloads. This role combines technical consulting, platform strategy, project coordination, and stakeholder management to ensure the computing environment evolves to meet current and future business needs.

• Serve as the primary liaison between platform operations teams, enterprise infrastructure organizations, vendors, and business stakeholders.
• Gather and analyze business requirements to support platform growth, performance, and long-term technology planning.
• Assess platform utilization trends, usage patterns, and demand signals to forecast future computing requirements.
• Develop architecture recommendations and technology roadmaps that align with evolving business and engineering needs.
• Facilitate stakeholder meetings and governance discussions to drive platform strategy and prioritization.
• Translate business requirements into technical concepts, solution designs, and architecture documentation.
• Coordinate with infrastructure and data center teams to support platform initiatives and strategic projects.
• Support vendor and supplier relationship management activities related to platform technologies and services.
• Contribute to planning activities for hybrid on-premises and cloud-based computing environments.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for performance optimization, scalability, and operational improvements.

• Analyze platform utilization metrics, logs, and operational data to identify trends and capacity requirements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand current and future business demands.
• Lead discussions focused on platform enhancements, infrastructure planning, and technology adoption.
• Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and strategic recommendations.
• Coordinate project activities across operations, infrastructure, and business teams.
• Participate in governance and advisory meetings to align platform capabilities with organizational priorities.
• Work with vendors and internal partners to evaluate technologies and support platform initiatives.

• Part of a globally distributed High Performance Computing team supporting enterprise engineering and simulation workloads.

• Primarily focused on strategic planning and stakeholder engagement rather than day-to-day platform administration.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in IT infrastructure, platform consulting, systems architecture, business analysis, project management, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
• Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure environments and technology planning.
• Experience facilitating discussions with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate cross-functional initiatives.

• Experience supporting or working within High Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
• Familiarity with engineering, modeling, simulation, or scientific computing workloads.
• Experience with hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments.
• Knowledge of heterogeneous operating systems, including Linux and Windows platforms.
• Exposure to workload schedulers such as PBS, Slurm, or LSF.
• Familiarity with high-performance storage, parallel file systems, high-speed interconnect technologies, CPU/GPU computing architectures, or compute optimization strategies.
• Experience developing technology roadmaps, capacity forecasts, and infrastructure planning recommendations.
