Desktop Project Manager

On behalf of our client, Procom Services is searching for a Desktop Project Manager for a contract opportunity in Bala Cynwyd, PA.

Position is responsible for project/program management leadership of Infrastructure and Desktop initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of current infrastructure concepts with proven ability to implement PC, ancillary software, deployment software (SCCM), AD concepts and monitoring in a fast paced, high availability, ITIL environment.
  • Lead projects, coordinate matrixed teams, and handle issues and problems effectively in a timely manner.
  • Track, understand and influence the team to remediate outstanding security‑based infrastructure audit issues as they appear in external and internal audits.
  • Partner with project owners, sponsors, and all stakeholders to create and implement cost‑efficient solutions based on business objectives.
  • Assist in identifying project business value, monitor value attainment throughout the project lifecycle, and develop realization tracking methods.
  • Manage resources, budgets, schedules and scope (the triple constraints) of medium to large‑sized projects.
  • Represent team recommendations to senior management, influence governance bodies, and communicate effectively via formal presentations.
  • Build strong relationships with business and technology leaders, understanding business opportunities and challenges when implementing solutions.
  • Initiate and ensure project management methodologies and change management procedures are followed, using supporting tools appropriately.
  • Manage deliverable estimation, resource allocation, and efficient utilization; negotiate resource conflicts with other project managers or resource managers.
  • Escalate issues to VP, IT Service Delivery as necessary.
  • Quickly learn and apply new complex technical concepts and resolve issues in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Communicate technical issues, impact and risk mitigation strategies in business terminology understandable to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Provide ongoing status updates on project progress, risks, change management and issue resolution; lead identification, tracking, escalation and resolution documentation.
  • Create and maintain project plans (charters and schedules), reviewing them with the appropriate Group Company IT, business partners and steering committees.
  • Facilitate vendor identification, selection and contracting with project owners, Vendor Management, Legal and Financial areas; maintain ongoing vendor management throughout the project life cycle.
Mandatory Skills
  • Four‑year degree in Business Administration, Technology Management, related field or equivalent proven project management experience and success.
  • Project Management Institute PMP Certification desired (willingness to obtain within a year of hire).
  • 10+ years of project management experience guiding medium to large‑sized projects (12‑24 month, $5‑$10+ million) to implementation.
  • Experience managing development projects in financial services or insurance companies; commercial property and casualty insurance a plus.
  • Experience managing 3rd‑party vendors in development, testing and staff augmentation.
  • Working knowledge or experience in managing Agile or Iterative development projects desired.
  • Experience in technical infrastructure projects and/or component deliverables.
  • Experience managing project teams (25+ people) operating within a matrix organization.
  • Strong customer service orientation (responsive, consultative, collaborative and accurate).
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills – able to work with a variety of people and groups constructively.
  • Excellent communication skills combined with experience leading a matrix project team.
  • Excellent teamwork, critical thinking, analytical, judgment and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly proficient in project management discipline and best practices (PMBOK driven).
  • Proficient in use of all project management and analytical software tools.
  • Expert in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Expert in Microsoft Project (2007/2010/2013).
  • Experience with Microsoft Project Server desired.
  • Expertise in portfolio management techniques and analytical software tools.
  • Expertise in methodology development, training and process control.
