Senior Director, R&D Integration & Separation Data Lead

GSK's R&D strategy calls for accelerating R&D and executing targeted business development to get key assets to patients faster. As Senior Director, R&D Integration & Separation Data Lead, you make that strategy executable at the data layer — the single point of accountability for the end-to-end data lifecycle underpinning GSK R&D's business development and licensing (BD&L) activity, from acquisitions and licensing to divestitures and other integration or separation events.

Sitting within the Data Value Office (DVO), you connect R&D functions, the Data Disposition Deal Lead, and R&D Technology. You define the requirements, priorities, and governance ("what and why") that R&D Tech delivers against ("how"), so every deal draws on a repeatable, governed method and R&D data assets move cleanly and compliantly at the pace the deal timeline demands.

We value clear communicators who lead with empathy, act with integrity, and focus on impact for patients and science.

Responsibilities
  • Own the integration & separation data model. Serve as single point of accountability for the end-to-end R&D data lifecycle across every BD&L-sourced and BD&L-exited dataset, owning technical standards for separation/integration architecture — carve-out data models, TSA data continuity, and system migration and decommissioning.
  • Set the requirements and governance for R&D data disposition. Define priorities and standards for data integration and separation as the strategic counterpart to R&D Tech's delivery, ensuring every migration is grounded in agreed business intent.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination across deals. Act as the central connection point between R&D functions, the Data Disposition Deal Lead, and R&D Tech — cascading requirements and timelines, reducing duplication, and ensuring consistent delivery across concurrent deals.
  • Embed governance into the deal lifecycle. Build and enforce data governance principles, standards, and timelines into every stage of BD&L activity so data meets GSK's compliance, quality, and lineage standards before migration, integration, or divestiture.
  • Own the governance hub for BD&L data. Operate the hub within DVO's federated model, setting standards, method, and decision rights for this domain — a peer to DVO's other topic-hubs — while triaging issues, resolving ownership gaps, and prioritizing highest-impact initiatives.
  • Partner on delivery, risk, and stakeholder management. Maintain a close operating partnership with the R&D Tech Lead on system access and migration (e.g., Non-Clin, VQD, Meteor, Reg Vault, Veeva TMF); engage senior stakeholders to manage risk and act as escalation point when data readiness threatens deal timelines; represent R&D data considerations with external counter parties, data room providers, and regulators during due diligence.
  • Codify the playbook and report on value. Capture method, templates, and lessons from each deal into a standing governance framework, and report clear measures of data readiness and reduced complexity to give R&D and CMO leadership visibility into the pipeline.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in data management, Life Sciences, Business, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives with diverse stakeholders across functions and levels.
  • Experience supporting M&A, licensing, divestitures, or business separations — including data separation and TSA processes.
  • Experience leading data-focused work streams within M&A, licensing, or divestiture transactions, preferably in a regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of the R&D data lifecycle, clinical development processes, and data governance practices.
  • Experience with data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and interoperability standards.
  • Knowledge of data privacy, GxP, and regulatory requirements for R&D data (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA), including data access/disclosure during due diligence.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience owning data separation/integration architecture standards — carve-out models, TSA data continuity, virtual data room provisioning.
  • Experience in federated or hub-and-spoke governance operating models, including owning a topic-level hub.
  • Experience partnering with technology leads to translating business requirements into system migration delivery.
  • Experience engaging senior stakeholders, Deal Leads, and external parties (counter parties, regulators, antitrust bodies) to manage risk and accelerate milestones.
  • Familiarity with R&D data platforms (e.g., Non-Clin, VQD, Meteor, Reg Vault, Veeva TMF).
