Villanova University is hiring a Systems Administrator. This role involves managing, optimizing, and securing the computing infrastructure for the Computer Science Department by overseeing deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Linux and Windows servers. The Systems Administrator also develops software tools, supports courses, enforces cybersecurity practices, and collaborates with University Technology Services to meet departmental needs.
Highlights- Manage multi-platform systems including file backups, upgrades, software installation, monitoring, and user management.
- Develop software applications to improve system management and departmental support.
- Enforce cybersecurity best practices and ensure compliance with research grant data requirements.
- Support course-related system configurations and application installation for the Computer Science department.
- Administer databases (Oracle, MySQL), cloud/virtualization platforms (VMware, AWS), and web servers (Apache, PHP).
- Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students resolving system-related issues.
- Collaborate with University Technology Services and act as a departmental liaison for procurement and support.
- Participate in special events including open houses, fairs, conferences, and senior projects.
- Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and at least one year IT experience. - Salary range: $73,100 to $91,400, dependent on qualifications and budget.
