The typical starting salary range for this position can vary depending on several factors such as geographic location, education, experience, and skill set. The full salary range for this position is designed to provide employees with the opportunity to progress and grow within their positions and reflects the competitive market value for these positions across the national market. GBLI also offers a total compensation plan including bonuses for all positions.
Typical annualized starting salary range for this position: $106,000 to $177,000. This range reflects base salary only and is not inclusive of bonus potential and other compensation considerations as it relates to the role.
Essential Duties & Functions- Manage and lead a team of renewal underwriters, providing guidance, training, workflow optimization, staffing resources and performance feedback.
- Reviews referrals within assigned letter of authority.
- Audits individual underwriting files to ensure compliance with company underwriting standards.
- Collaborate with regional leaders, post review unit and actuarial teams to refine renewal strategies and pricing approach.
- Monitor renewal retention and implement initiatives to improve customer retention and broker satisfaction.
- Analyze portfolio performance and identify trends to inform underwriting decisions.
- Collaborate in product development or improvement as well as creating or refining underwriting guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with agents and other business units within the organization to support business objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or related field and 7 years of underwriting experience, or equivalent combination or related education and experience.
- 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Strong analytical skills and knowledge of underwriting principles for specialty lines.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Possess an innovative and continuous improvement mindset.
- Understand the importance of data analytics and applying it within the book of business.
- Proficiency in underwriting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- CPCU or AU designation preferred.
