Position Summary
Director, Bureau of Life, Accident, and Health Insurance – Paid: $ – $ annually,
Location:
Dauphin County, PA.

The Pennsylvania Insurance Department is looking for a strategic leader with extensive experience in Life, Accident and Health insurance. As a Director you will direct, oversee, and coordinate the review, analysis, and approval or disapproval of life, accident, and health insurance products.
Responsibilities- Oversee life, accident, and health insurance policy form and rate review.
- Provide guidance throughout the review process.
- Assign specific projects or reports to actuarial or policy examiner staff and review their work before presentation to the Deputy Commissioner.
- Direct the collection and analysis of statistical data supporting decisions on policy forms and rate filings.
- Correspond and confer with company officials regarding operations, marketing procedures, and filings.
- Evaluate employee performance, assess training needs, and act as spokesperson on insurance issues.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours 8:00 AM‑4:30 PM, Monday‑Friday, 60‑minute lunch. Schedule flexible based on operational need.
- Telework part‑time may be possible with required high‑speed internet and approved Pennsylvania location. Option to report to headquarters if telework not available.
- Salary in some cases may be non‑negotiable.
- Two years experience as a Life and Health Insurance Policy Examiner Supervisor in the Bureau of Accident and Health Rate and Policy Form Review; or
- Two years experience as an Accident and Health Insurance Actuary Supervisor; or
- Designation as a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries; or
- Designation as an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and six years of professional insurance work; or
- Eight years progressively responsible experience in accident and health insurance rate preparation, analysis or research, underwriting or sales, or drafting/reviewing policies and forms, including two years in an administrative or supervisory capacity, and a Bachelor's degree; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
