Sign Language Interpreter; ASL Oxford

Make a meaningful impact by providing dedicated support as an American Sign Language Interpreter in a welcoming elementary school environment. In this onsite contract role, youll work closely with a 5th grade student within a Life Skills classroom, ensuring equal access to education and fostering meaningful connections. With a consistent 35-hour workweek, youll have the opportunity to build rapport, make a difference, and further your interpreting skills daily.

Qualifications:

• Valid qualification as an ASL Interpreter
• EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (required)
• Proven ability to interpret for students in educational settings
• Experience supporting learners with special needs or in Life Skills classrooms is valued
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative team spirit
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate, real-time interpretation between English and American Sign Language
• Facilitate communication between a 5th grade student, peers, educators, and staff
• Adapt interpretation style to fit classroom activities and the needs of the student
• Support a positive, inclusive, and accessible classroom environment
• Collaborate with educational staff to optimize the students learning experience
• Maintain appropriate documentation as needed by school protocols
