Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Trust and Estate Paralegal with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience supporting attorneys in estate/trust administration. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working directly with clients, fiduciaries, and financial institutions.
- Assist in the administration of estates and trusts, including:
- Preparing probate petitions and related court filings
- Collecting and organizing asset information
- Preparing inventories, accountings, and asset transfer documents
- Coordinate with financial institutions, government agencies, and beneficiaries regarding estate matters.
- File documents with Surrogates/Probate Courts and track deadlines.
- Prepare and file federal and state estate and gift tax returns (Forms 706, 709, etc.)
- Maintain and organize client files and case management databases.
- Support attorneys in preparing for meetings, hearings, and closings.
- Communicate with clients regarding document execution and administrative matters.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a trust and estate administration in a law firm.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with estate administration software a plus (e.g., GEMS, Lackner, Wealth Counsel, or similar).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive client matters.
- Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate required.
