Director, Procurement – Biologics Category
Hybrid position located in Titusville, New Jersey (USA) with alternate consideration at Spring House, Pennsylvania. Reporting to the IMSC Procurement strategy, the Director leads end-to-end biologics raw material procurement for New Product Pipeline and Launch & Grow products. The role supports cost efficiency, risk management, innovation, and sustainability and partners with Supply Chain, R&D, and senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Procurement Strategy & Execution- Lead execution of IMSC Procurement strategy by applying market intelligence, category expertise to identify high‑value opportunities, drive value creation, and strengthen procurement capabilities.
- Advise and support category sourcing strategies aligned to short‑, mid‑, and long‑term business priorities while defining a prioritized sourcing roadmap.
- Lead strategic and collaborative supplier relationships to drive performance, innovation, continuous improvement, and value through cost, quality, and efficiency initiatives.
- Advise on supplier selection, due diligence, onboarding, performance management, and contract lifecycle activities ensuring governance compliance.
- Shape the future supply chain for upcoming nodes in the network.
- Negotiate commercial agreements and contracts balancing value, risk, and business continuity.
- Represent Procurement in cross‑functional forums, translating business demand into sourcing plans, priorities, timelines, and risk assessments.
- Partner with Supply Chain and R&D to enable product launches and operational readiness.
- Sponsor sustainable Procurement and supplier diversity initiatives across the category.
- Drive commercial value through cost‑effective sourcing, cost avoidance, cash‑flow improvement opportunities, and negotiation optimization.
- Ensure accurate procurement forecasting, budgeting, and alignment with financial business cycles.
- Proactively identify commercial, supply, quality, and regulatory risks; advise on continuity plans.
- Ensure sourcing activities meet relevant regulatory, quality, and compliance requirements.
- Raise critical issues promptly and coordinate mitigation actions with stakeholders.
- Leverage procurement systems, analytics, and reporting to generate actionable insights and support decision‑making.
- Promote adoption of digital tools and identify automation opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Translate business and category needs into supplier innovation projects, partnering cross‑functionally to advance initiatives.
- Represent Procurement in platform‑level innovation initiatives and advise projects through commercialization.
- Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; advanced degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated procurement / category management experience.
- Success in developing sourcing strategy, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
- Proficiency in procurement analytics tools (e.g., e‑sourcing, contracting tools).
- Strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills; ability to translate business needs into strategic priorities.
- Proven ability to build trusted partnerships and lead through consultation and mentoring.
- Creative and adaptable in solving complex problems.
- Commitment to ethical business practices and procurement governance.
- Ability to anticipate customer needs, identify opportunities, and drive innovation and continuous improvement.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, specialty chemical, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Experience supporting complex supply chains or direct material procurement categories.
- Familiarity with emerging digital or AI tools.
- Proficiency in English.
- May require up to 20% domestic or international travel.
- Work on‑site minimum three days a week; up to two remote workdays per week.
