Job Summary:

Kawneer North America offers architectural aluminum building products and systems for the commercial construction industry. We provide customers with a comprehensive product portfolio that includes entrances, framing systems, windows, and curtain wall systems. The Purchasing Agent uses technical skills and knowledge to do the following:

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

• Reports to Procurement Plant Lead
• Supports all relevant Plant Procurement Operations functions
• Creates Purchase orders for Indirect and Direct Goods & Services as directed by Procurement Plant Lead
• Engages with suppliers for order confirmations, delivery status and updates system ERP with order status
• Assists on benchmarking efforts, should-be-cost analyses and business cases
• Supports the Plant Procurement Lead in planning and monitoring
• Creates, develops and accounts for tools and templates to simplify and streamline efficient communication between team members as well as efficient execution on all procurement-related tasks
• Supports internal and external communication on procurement tasks and goals
• Serves as help desk and support function on high yield procurement activities, e.g. supplier summits
• Communicates with suppliers on operational topics and supports negotiations and RfQs/RfPs in close alignment with the Strategic Buyers and Technical Procurement
• Participates in supplier meetings as needed

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• One year of experience in customer service, purchasing, or other relevant work
• Must be competent in Microsoft Suite
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's (4 year) degree in Business Administration/Economics, Supply Chain or Engineering
• Knowledge of financial or procurement processes, especially purchase-to-pay (operational)
• Proficiency in data-mining and software applications
• Communication skills
• Customer-oriented

Competencies/skills:

• Must be extremely organized and fast paced
• Organizational
  - It is important to keep RFQs neatly in assigned and well-marked folders. Most RFQs require multiple vendors and makeups. It is important to keep them orderly, so they are easily accessible.
• Customer Service
  - As an liaison between OE/Estimating and vendors the ideal candidate must be able to answer questions multiple times and be patient in working with both internal and external actors.
• Attention to detail
  - Glass units are often complex and have minute differences that effect price. The ideal candidate will be able to understand and notice small differences and price correctly.
• Basic Business acumen
  - Its important to understand the role within the Kawneer team.
