Key qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees are a plus
- 5+ years in procurement or supply chain management
- Proven leadership experience managing a team with 4-5 direct reports
- Strong background in commodity/industrial purchasing and packaging materials (labels, plastics, containers, etc.)
- Hands-on experience in MRP systems (preferably JD Edwards/E1)
- Budget management and expense control skills
- Willingness to travel approximately two weeks each month for supplier visits and industry meetings
- Collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork
Core responsibilities:
- Oversee and mentor the procurement team across multiple sites, fostering growth and efficiency
- Manage direct purchasing functions and supplier performance to meet organizational goals
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of priorities and operations
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive data related to costs, formulas, SDS, and bills of materials
- Support sourcing initiatives and cultivate supplier relationships through regular visits and meetings
- Ensure procurement activities are compliant with company standards and procedures
