The Regional Load Planner is responsible for managing transportation activities within an assigned geographic region, ensuring products are delivered safely, efficiently, and cost effectively. This role works within an established transportation network to select carriers and transportation modes while balancing service expectations and cost objectives.
The position partners closely with carriers, plant personnel, customer service teams, and other business functions to optimize freight movements, improve network efficiency, and maintain high service levels. The Regional Load Planner plays a key role in identifying transportation improvements, resolving service issues, managing freight claims, and supporting day to day logistics operations.
** Key Responsibilities*
* + Plan and manage outbound shipments for an assigned region utilizing transportation management systems and established carrier networks.
+ Optimize transportation network performance through continuous move planning, round trip opportunities, and efficient equipment utilization.
+ Maintain and update carrier capacity information to support transportation planning and ensure service continuity.
+ Select transportation modes and carriers based on service requirements, network optimization opportunities, and cost effectiveness.
+ Analyze freight lanes, shipment patterns, and transportation data to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost reduction.
+ Communicate with carriers regarding dispatch, routing, service expectations, and performance.
+ Monitor carrier service levels and support ongoing performance tracking and improvement initiatives.
+ Investigate and resolve transportation service failures, shipment delays, and customer concerns in a timely manner.
+ Coordinate reconsignments, returns, and other transportation adjustments as needed.
+ Partner with manufacturing, marketing, engineering, customer service, and logistics teams to support changing transportation needs.
+ Process freight claims and coordinate with third parties to ensure proper claim management and resolution.
+ Review and approve transportation invoices through third party freight payment systems.
+ Maintain transportation records and documentation, including proof of delivery and shipment files.
+ Support additional transportation and logistics initiatives as assigned.
** Required Qualifications
** Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, Business, or a related field.
+ Candidates without a degree should possess 2 to 3 years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, customer service, or administrative operations.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
+ Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
+ Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
+ Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across cross functional teams.
** Preferred Qualifications*
* + Experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or freight planning.
+
Experience with SAP, Manhattan Associates TLM, or other transportation management systems.
+ Knowledge of carrier operations, freight routing, and transportation network optimization.
** Additional Requirements*
* + Limited travel required (less than 20%).
+ Ability to work remotely with company-provided equipment and reliable internet access.
+ Availability to work schedules that may range between 7:00 AM and 6:30 PM.
+ Ability to perform extensive computer-based work and remain seated for extended periods
