Senior Specialist, New Product Introductions
Direct Materials Procurement - New Product Introduction responsibilities include developing and implementing supplier management strategies and initiatives; improving supply chain resiliency; and driving improvements in cost, supplier performance, and working capital to support manufacturing and supply.
General Responsibilities- Collect and present market trends, competitive environment, and industry best practices to support sourcing strategy.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless execution across modalities through launch + 2 years.
- Support procurement objectives: product sourcing, supply risk management, supplier performance improvement, cost reduction, supplier development, working capital improvement, and supplier relationship management.
- Work with Legal, Finance, Procure-to-Pay, internal stakeholders, and external suppliers.
- Conduct detailed market analyses to provide meaningful insights.
- Implement procurement strategies and execute tactical procurement processes; serve as a resource on procurement processes/systems.
- Support supplier selection, ensure legal contract requirements are met, and manage supplier relationships.
- Ensure compliance with Global Procurement policies using a data-driven business case approach.
- Conduct supplier and supply market analysis.
- Build cost models/purchase price analysis; may include supplier visits.
- Perform strategic/project analysis (e.g., portfolio analysis, supplier preferencing, day-one sourcing).
- Conduct financial analysis/reporting (category spend, savings, compliance, metrics) and maintain systems (incl. SAP).
- Create pre-negotiation plans; support negotiations and post-debrief follow-through.
- Create/execute RFIs, RFPs, e-auctions; analyze structured information.
- Perform risk assessment and mitigation (e.g., solvency, FCPA, code of conduct).
- Participate in category teams; share learnings.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Supply Chain or Procurement.
- 2+ years pharmaceutical industry experience.
- Adaptability; strong verbal/written communication; ability to influence external partners.
- Advanced data collection/analytics/reporting; excellent project management.
- Independent work with flexibility in ambiguous situations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Prior pharma or Fortune 500 experience; cost modeling.
- MS Teams/SharePoint;
PowerBI or similar tools;
Excel for large datasets. - Experience managing external relationships and data collection methods.
