Lancaster County Career & Technology Center has an anticipated vacancy for a Full-Time Adult Ed Automotive Technology Program Director at the Willow Street campus. The Program Director of the Automotive Technology Associate in Specialized Technology (AST) Degree program oversees planning, operation, and compliance for the Automotive Technology AST Program, ensuring alignment with academic, industry, and accreditation standards.
The role also includes coordinating physical and instructional resources to support program delivery and student success.
- Program Management
- Oversee the program in accordance with school policies and procedures, and faculty bylaws.
- Ensure compliance standards are met for the program; obtain & maintain appropriate accreditation and program approvals.
- Encourage and maintain good working relationships between the Automotive Technology program and participating externship/internship sites.
- Develop and maintain open channels of communication between the faculty and school administration.
- Provide support for the recruitment, evaluation, retention, and graduation of qualified students.
- Interview students as part of the enrollment process.
- Counsel students regarding program demands.
- Assume responsibility for the planning and upkeep of the automotive lab and classrooms.
- Maintain a strong emphasis on growth and the key role of education; lead by example by pursuing professional growth through participation in seminars, workshops, professional meetings, and faculty in-services.
- Lead the school's short-term Continuing Education Automotive programs, i.e. Safety Inspection and Emission classes.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvement processes.
- Work with school administration to maintain third party accreditation, i.e. COE, ASE
- Financial Management
- Assist in the preparation and administer the annual program budget.
- Investigate available grants and submit requests for consideration.
- Staff Management
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff to achieve a high performing team.
- Evaluate all direct reports on an annual basis.
- Interview potential faculty members and staff to ensure proper qualifications, knowledge of subject matter, and ability to work with students in a positive manner.
- Coordinate internal work activities to provide seamless educational services.
- Other duties as assigned
- 5+ years of experience in the Automotive Mechanic field
- Previous teaching experience preferred
- ASE and PA Safety and Emission Instructor certifications
- Experience with ASE Accreditation preferred
- Valid PA Driver's License
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Extensive computer skills including Microsoft Office, the ability to collect, analyze and evaluate data, and use state-of-the-art technology to enhance the learning experience
- Current (within one year) Criminal (State and FBI) background check and Child Abuse Clearances
