QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years experience in custodial operations, or 10 years experience in custodial operations, required.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Clear and valid current Pennsylvania Drivers’ License.
- Working knowledge of various facilities, cleaning equipment, and supplies.
- Ability to identify and correct work performance to ensure compliance.
- Computer application skills in word processing, spreadsheet analysis, and database management.
- Alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Custodial Services Manager
JOB GOALS: The Assistant Custodial Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily custodial operations of a facility or group of facilities, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized environment. This role will focus on inspections and training of staff.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Staff Supervision and Training: Coordinate with Custodial Services Manager on recruitment, training, and supervise custodial staff to maintain high cleaning standards. Assist in development and implementation of training programs on cleaning techniques, equipment use, and safety protocols. Monitor staff performance and provide regular feedback, coaching, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Operations Management: Plan and oversee daily cleaning schedules, special projects, and seasonal deep‑cleaning tasks. Assign tasks and shifts to custodial team members based on operational needs. Inspect facilities regularly to ensure cleanliness and address any deficiencies promptly.
- Inventory and Equipment Management: Collaborate with Custodial Services Manager to monitor custodial supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and proper maintenance. Track inventory levels and coordinate timely procurement of cleaning materials. Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and arrange repairs or replacements as needed.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Conduct routine safety training and maintain up to date records of certifications. Assist in development and implementation of emergency cleaning and response protocols.
- Communication and Reporting: Serve as the primary point of contact for custodial operations on second shift with other departments and external vendors. Assist Custodial Services Manager with communications on first shift, as needed. Prepare and submit regular reports on custodial activities, staff performance, and operational issues. Respond to feedback or complaints regarding cleaning services and resolve issues efficiently.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or their designee.

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in the specific field.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Regularly required to stand, talk, and hear.
- Occasionally sit, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Over 50 pounds requires assistance.
