Operations Manager, Supply Chain / Intl. Trade
The Warehouse Lead is responsible for all warehouse activities, including shipping and receiving goods & materials, organizing and monitoring inventory levels across the facility, proper documentation of and execution of procedures, and assuring proper data entry into supporting systems to allow for measurement and reporting of the effectiveness of warehouse activities. The Warehouse Lead participates in the hiring of new employees, trains employees, assigns work, evaluates individual performance and addresses performance issues, as required.
KeyCompetencies and Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct warehouse staff, putting safety as a top priority.
- Communicate job expectations and coach employees.
- Motivate and lead warehouse staff to effectively carry out given tasks.
- Coordinate and oversee all warehouse logistics.
- Track and account for all incoming and outgoing goods & materials.
- Assure compliance with facility rules, guidelines and applicable local, state, or federal regulations.
- Maintain storage areas by organizing storage space and adhering to storage design principles.
- Manage the delivery of materials and equipment to departments by receiving and transferring items.
- Ensure accurate delivery of materials and inventory transactions.
- Assure that all inventory cycle counts are performed and properly documented.
- Improve warehouse work processes through strategic planning in order to create a more efficient fulfillment system.
- Manages metal scrap program.
- Achieve high levels of internal customer satisfaction through excellence in receiving, identifying, delivering, and assuring quality of goods.
- Supervise all forklift operations.
- Ensure that the warehouse and all warehouse equipment are properly maintained.
- Perform daily inspection of the warehouse and warehouse grounds to assure that housekeeping standards are maintained.
- Maintain shipping documentation, manifests, and receipts.
- Interface with internal customers to answer questions or resolve problems.
Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous management experience in a warehouse position.
- Knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office Applications.
- Physical stamina, able to work long hours on one’s feet and lift 50+ pounds.
- Excellent organization and efficient time-management skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Ability to develop and carry out policies and procedures.
- Effective and professional demeanor when engaging internal customers.
- Proven ability to direct and coordinate operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Refining, Petrochemical or chemical industry experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, logistics, supply chain management, or related field.
- Knowledge of CMMS, ERP and SCM systems environments (e.g. Maximo, SAP, Ariba)
- Forklift certification and/or ability to successfully complete forklift training and operate machinery safely, according to company protocols.
