Job Summary The Manager of Mountain Maintenance (Lifts & Fleet) owns full accountability for daily lift and fleet maintenance operations, ensuring performance, outcomes, and regulatory compliance across Jack Frost & Big Boulder mountains. This role provides technical oversight and people leadership for lift maintenance (mechanical and electrical) and fleet maintenance teams, while driving operational excellence, safety, engagement, and long-term department growth.
This position serves as the primary point of contact for maintenance operations, owning P&L responsibility, staffing strategy, talent development, and cross-functional collaboration in alignment with enterprise and resort priorities.

Job Responsibilities:
Core Leadership & Accountability Responsibilities Own accountability for daily operations, ensuring performance, outcomes, and compliance with regulatory, safety, and company standards. Coach and manage team performance, fostering employee development, engagement, and accountability. Lead enterprise and resort values, competencies, and priorities, modeling expected leadership behaviors. Perform supervisor responsibilities as needed, including direct oversight of shop and field operations during critical operational periods.
Serve as the main point of contact for other department and functional leaders regarding lift and fleet maintenance operations. Talent, Staffing & Workforce Management Manage hiring and onboarding for lift maintenance and fleet maintenance teams. Manage master schedules and resource allocation, ensuring labor compliance and operational coverage. Create labor and staffing guidelines to support year-round and seasonal operational demands. Own advanced staffing concerns, including coverage gaps, emergency staffing needs, and succession risks.
Develop and execute staff retention strategies, monitoring engagement and turnover trends. Set goals and Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for all direct reports. Lead talent development and succession planning for all critical operational and leadership roles. Technical Oversight & Operational Excellence Ensure full grasp of functional expertise and knowledge, maintaining technical oversight of lift systems, fleet equipment, and maintenance practices. Ensure tools, resources, and technical knowledge meet operational needs and standards across both resorts.
Direct mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, and system upgrades for:
Aerial and surface lifts, conveyors, and related systems Resort vehicle and equipment fleets including grooming equipment, snowmobiles, trucks, UTVs, and heavy equipment Oversee preventive, annual, and unscheduled maintenance programs to ensure system reliability and readiness. Training, Policies & Continuous Improvement Develop training programs, policies, and procedures for both lift and fleet maintenance operations. Ensure required certifications, inspections, and documentation are completed, accurate, and audit-ready.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, workflow efficiency, documentation, and technical capability. Financial & Strategic Responsibility Own P&L accountability for the department, including operating and capital budgets. Develop and execute department growth strategies aligned with mountain business objectives. Forecast labor, parts, tooling, and capital needs; prepare and manage capital requests.
