The
Plant Operations E&I Maintenance Superintendent is accountable for directing the Electrical & Instrument maintenance process in the station to ensure high availability of equipment and maximum generation at the lowest possible cost. This involves directing the planning of Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance activities and the coordination of the necessary resources to accomplish that objective. The incumbent directs E&I Maintenance in the development, implementation, and administration of the maintenance strategy to achieve the objectives identified in the Business Plan.
This position is responsible to ensure all aspects of employee safety including implementation of safe work practices and promoting safety awareness.
- Supervises, trains/documents and inspects/documents employees, equipment and job sites to ensure that employees are provided a workplace free of recognizable hazards and assures that all applicable safety and health rules and standards are complied with in a timely manner. The incumbent instructs subordinates on safe work practices, enforces Company Safety Policies, investigates accidents, and reviews accident reports. The incumbent also trains personnel in the safe operation and repair of complex electrical equipment, instrumentation, tools, and test equipment.
The incumbent is a member of the Plant Safety Committee. - Directs the daily maintenance work process to ensure the safe and effective use of manpower through the implementation of the Shared Leadership Work Team concept and the timely completion of projects. He/she is responsible for supervising the dismantling, repairing and assembly of all electrical, control and instrument apparatus, systems and tools used in the plant. He/she analyzes problems and operating deficiencies and determines repairs required, operating procedures to be followed while repairs are being made, and specific procedures to be followed by the crews performing the repairs.
Works with the MS 365 System daily to assure the department is working on the highest priority jobs and helps the Station meet our KPI and MPI Goals. Supervises employees to increase quality and quantity of work produced within engineering specifications, time schedules and budgetary parameters, while enforcing current union contract and Company operating standards. - Coordinates with manufacturing representatives, field engineers and consultants in major plant equipment inspections and overhauls to maximize equipment availability and efficiency. The incumbent maintains records on plant electrical, control and instrumentation equipment and related systems to analyze future maintenance requirements. He/she also maintains an adequate inventory of spare parts and prepares requisitions for needed materials, supplies and tools.
- Reporting to this position are supervisors and represented employees with skills supporting digital control systems; electrical; instrumentation; and the continuous emission monitoring system. In addition to CAMS personnel, the incumbent will be required to direct the work of contractors. Coordinates repair assignments with others to obtain maximum utilization of available manpower and implement cost effective, realistic solutions to problems.
- The incumbent will develop a working knowledge of the Labor Agreement, minimize Union problems, handle first step grievances, and take corrective action as needed. The position requires good human relations techniques to maintain a harmonious and productive atmosphere in the department.
- Assists the Maintenance Manager in preparing the annual Capital and Operations & Maintenance budgets that meets the station business plan and keeps the plant running safely and efficiently.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a related field or Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Business, or related discipline from an accredited college or university, and 6 years of equivalent experience in a related field.
