The Assistant Director of Special Programs and Services is responsible for assisting, administering, and supervising Special Programs and Services within the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit #21.
Relationship:The Assistant Director of Special Programs and Services shall be responsible to the Director of Special Programs and Services.
Qualifications:Education/
Experience:
- Minimum Supervisor of Special Education Certification, Principal Certification or other applicablePDE Administrative Certification.
- 3-5 years' experience as a Supervisor of Special Education, preferred.

The Assistant Director of Special Programs and Service swill have the authority to perform all functions listed below in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function/duty/responsibility at acceptable standards. In accordance with both state and/or federal law, reasonable accommodations will be considered upon employee request.
- Assists the Director of Special Programs and Services in the administration of the CLIU #21 Special Education, Nonpublic, Early Intervention, Related Services, Behavioral Health, Transportation, and/or other Special Service Programs.
- Supervises CLIU #21 Special Education Supervisors of Itinerant Services, Early Intervention, CLIU #21 Operated Programs, Behavioral Health, and Nonpublic Schools and assists them in planning, developing, and implementing programs.
- Assists the Director of Special Programs and Services in managing the child accounting, student tracking systems, transportation, and/or other necessary record keeping.
- Assists in administration of the process of data collection and data entry for all programs and services operated by CLIU #21.Serves as a liaison with PDE and/or DPW.
- Assists in recruitment, screening, and recommendation of staff for employment.
