Press Room Material Handler / Press Assistant

2nd Shift | Full-Time | On-Site

Our Press Room team plays a critical role in keeping production running safely, efficiently, and on schedule and we’re looking for a hands-on, safety-minded Press Room Material Handler / Press Assistant to join our team.

What You’ll Do

Material Handling & Production Support:

  • Prepare, load, unload, and move raw materials and finished parts throughout the pressroom.
  • Read work orders and follow instructions to stage materials at the correct press locations.
  • Safely load and unload metal coils using forklifts, cranes, powered lifts, and banding equipment.
  • Empty scrap into designated hoppers and notify appropriate personnel when capacity is reached.
  • Count, weigh, scan, and track materials using barcode systems to maintain accurate inventory.
  • Stage raw materials and packaging supplies for upcoming shifts to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Assemble crates and boxes for shipping or storage using air-powered tools and power saws as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and auxiliary equipment areas in accordance with 5S standards.
Press Room & Quality Support
  • Package and inspect stamped parts to ensure compliance with work instructions and customer specifications.
  • Assist with starting strip material in dies once presses are set up and running.
  • Perform basic dimensional inspections per Operator Inspection Sheets.
  • Work closely with Press Operators and the Quality team to support production and quality standards.
  • Follow all safety, security, and company policies, including state and federal regulations.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience operating forklifts (stand-up and sit-down); certification required or obtained on the job.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (1–3 years preferred).
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and work instructions.
  • Basic math skills and comfort using barcode scanning systems.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Mechanical aptitude or previous experience working around industrial machinery.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to stand, bend, lift, and move for extended periods (up to 10-hour shifts).
  • Ability to lift and move materials (up to 35 lbs. with control and unassisted).
  • Raise arms above shoulders and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Comfortable working on your feet and using hands/tools.
  • Comfortable working around large industrial machinery and in a moderate-to-high noise environment.
  • Must be able to wear PPE (safety glasses, ear protection, hearing protection, arm sleeves, etc.).
Required Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain forklift/fork truck license
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or be able to comply with U.S. export regulations
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-3 years forklift experience
  • 1-3 years manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or machinery operation experience preferred.
