Primary Purpose
The Maintenance Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all maintenance work to ensure maximum equipment reliability, workforce efficiency, and minimal downtime.
Core Responsibilities- Develop daily, weekly, and shutdown schedules for maintenance activities.
- Prioritize work orders based on safety, production impact, and equipment criticality.
- Ensure all required labor, materials, and tools are available before scheduling.
- Sequence jobs to minimize downtime and conflicts.
- Review and validate incoming work orders from CMMS (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, Infor EAM).
- Ensure work orders include clear scope of work, estimated labor hours, and required parts/materials.
- Track backlog and maintain a healthy backlog typically 2–4 weeks.
- Work closely with Operations to align production schedules, and with Maintenance supervisors/foremen.
- Attend daily and weekly planning meetings.
- Coordinate equipment availability and downtime windows.
- Assign labor based on skill set, availability, and priority of work.
- Optimize crew utilization and reduce idle time.
- Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams.
- Ensure parts are ordered, kitted, and staged prior to scheduled work.
- Avoid delays due to missing materials.
- Maintain and schedule preventive (PM) and predictive (PdM) maintenance programs.
- Ensure compliance with OEM and regulatory requirements.
- Develop detailed schedules for planned outages and turnaround (TAR) events.
- Coordinate contractors, materials, and timelines.
- Track progress and adjust schedules as needed.
- Monitor KPIs such as schedule compliance (%), equipment uptime, backlog levels, and labor utilization.
- Generate reports for management.
- Identify scheduling inefficiencies.
- Improve planning accuracy and job estimates.
- Support reliability initiatives such as RCM and Lean.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance processes and workflows.
- Experience with CMMS systems.
- Experience with Maximo and P6.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to read technical drawings and job scopes.
- Strong communication and coordination abilities.
