Production Manager, Operations Engineer

The Manufacturing Technician Lead performs a dual role, providing leadership to an assigned team of Production Technicians of varying skill levels, and executing assembly responsibilities on assigned projects. The Lead will be expected to lead, mentor and provide training to manufacturing Technicians in levels 1-4. This role supports the Electrical Assembly Manager by coordinating a team of Production Technicians to ensure production deadlines and standards are met.
The incumbent in this role will be required to use hand, and small power tools in the execution of assigned responsibilities. Infrequent travel may be required for installation/service.
- As a role model for Production Technicians levels 1-4, provide direction, mentoring and training in operational SOPs.
- Ensure compliance with established policies and best practices.
- Monitor performance, provide coaching as needed to assigned team of Production Technicians.
- Oversee productivity for assigned team members, ensure production quality meets company standards.
- Conduct safety briefings, ensure safety policies are followed by all team members.
- Provide support in completion of performance evaluations on assigned team members.
- Participate in operational, safety, and/or supervisory training as required.
- Provide coverage for Electrical Assembly Manager in times of absence or overtime scheduling.
- Responsible for opening the production facility as needed, and for the security of the facility at site closure.
- Assemble control panel and switch gear components of varied size with minimal direction.
- Modify and retrofit existing structures to meet customer specifications.
- Assemble metalwork and handle sheet metal goods.
- Read, understand and follow blueprint diagrams.
- Follow instructions to meet production schedule.
- Be proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools applicable to the responsibilities of the position.
- Fabrication, to include saw cutting and drilling. Cut, strip and crimp wires and make cables as needed.
- Ensure work output is to required standard to avoid rework.
- Acquire all mandatory certifications (to include but not limited to OSHA
10, CPR) - May be required to cross train, supporting other sections of the Company
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 4-5 years in mechanical assembly/mechanical repair or associated field.
- A background knowledge of electrical system wiring (DC & AC) 1 + 3 phase, control systems and PLC experience, electrical manufacturing (highly desirable)
- Prior leadership experience highly desirable.
- Proficiency using hand tools and hand power tools, ruler, scale, tape measure, calipers (required)
- Proficiency reading and understanding blueprints
- Demonstrated experience in panel assembly and wiring
- Ability to work under pressure/severe time constraints.
- Satisfactory completion of additional background screening.
