Job Description Summary

The Manufacturing Specialist - Production Supervision- is responsible for supporting and supervising daily shop floor operations to ensure production goals, safety standards, quality requirements, and delivery targets are consistently achieved. This role provides front-line leadership to production personnel, coordinates resources, resolves operational issues, and drives continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.
Based in Pittsburgh, this position works closely with production teams, maintenance, quality, engineering, and materials teams to maintain efficient operations and ensure compliance with company policies and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership capability, operational discipline, technical problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.


Job Description


Roles and Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily shop floor activities to ensure production schedules, output targets, and customer delivery requirements are met.
  • Coordinate production manpower, materials, and equipment to support efficient workflow and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor daily operations and adjust work assignments or schedules as needed to maintain productivity and operational continuity.
  • Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with established quality standards, work instructions, and process requirements.
  • Provide direct support to team leaders, operators, and production personnel to resolve day-to-day operational challenges.
  • Provide front-line leadership, guidance, and support to shop floor employees, helping drive engagement, accountability, and performance.
  • Promote a positive team environment focused on safety, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support onboarding, training, and development of production employees to build capability and improve performance.
  • Monitor workforce performance and provide timely feedback, coaching, and recognition to support employee growth.
  • Partner with leadership and HR as needed on employee relations, staffing needs, and performance management processes.
  • Ensure strict adherence to company policies, EHS procedures, and manufacturing safety standards.
  • Conduct regular safety observations and support corrective actions to address hazards and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Partner with Quality teams to ensure products meet specifications, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Support investigations into quality issues, production deviations, and non-conformances, helping implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable operational, environmental, and safety regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities to improve productivity, reduce waste, lower downtime, and improve shop floor performance.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output, scrap, downtime, labor efficiency, and schedule attainment.
  • Identify process bottlenecks and support implementation of practical solutions to improve operational flow.
  • Apply lean manufacturing, problem-solving, and process improvement methods to optimize operations and reduce costs.
  • Support standard work development and process discipline to improve consistency and manufacturing effectiveness.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, production planning tools, and standard Microsoft Office applications.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or production management, with at least 2 years in a supervisor role.
  • Industry experience aligned with Power Conversion / Energy Storage / Electrification
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Proven experience in managing shop floor operations, meeting production targets, and driving process improvements.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop employees.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of resolving technical and operational issues quickly and effectively.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement
