Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineer will support the design, development, and improvement of sheet metal fabrication processes, products, and tooling. This role requires strong proficiency in Solid Works and CAD software, programming skills for fabrication equipment, and ideally hands‑on fabrication experience. The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability, accuracy, and efficiency while meeting customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop sheet metal parts, assemblies, and fixtures using Solid Works and other CAD tools.
  • Create detailed fabrication drawings, flat patterns, and DXF files for laser cutting, punching, and CNC equipment.
  • Program and optimize fabrication equipment (laser cutters, press brakes, machining centers, etc.).
  • Work with production teams to develop and improve fabrication processes for efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Translate customer drawings and specifications into manufacturable designs and production‑ready documentation.
  • Provide hands‑on support in the shop for prototyping, troubleshooting, and process validation.
  • Collaborate with quality engineers to define tolerances, inspection methods, and quality standards.
  • Participate in new product introductions, from prototype through full production.
  • Research and recommend new technologies, tools, and methods to improve fabrication capabilities.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 2–5 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or related manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Solid Works and 3D CAD modeling; experience with AutoCAD or similar software a plus (Pro E, Inventor, etc.).
  • Experience with CAM programming for CNC equipment (laser, punch, press brake, or machining).
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal processes, tolerances, and fabrication methods.
  • Hands‑on experience with fabrication equipment and shop practices preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for manufacturing documentation.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices is an advantage.
Working Conditions
  • Combination of office and shop floor environment.
  • Frequent interaction with production teams and fabrication equipment.
  • May require wearing PPE and participating in hands‑on prototyping or troubleshooting.
