Quality Inspector
Penn United Technologies, Inc. has an immediate need for a full‑time Quality Inspector to join our company. The Quality Inspector is responsible for working in our Plating Inspection team to provide final inspection on finished products, to ensure that shipped products fulfill all customer specifications and ensure customer satisfaction. This position does require the ability to work weekly rotating shifts of daylight, afternoon and midnight, with a 10% shift premium when working non‑daylight shifts.

Penn United Technologies currently employs over 650 people in our employee‑owned precision manufacturing company, located about 35 miles northeast of Pittsburgh in Butler County.
- Work with manufacturing technicians to achieve acceptable product, meet or exceed customer quality standards, goals and deliveries.
- May perform set‑up and verification of inspection machinery such as XRF, Smartscope, etc.
- May fixture product and prepare inspection programs for use.
- Perform thorough and repetitive visual inspections and audits of materials and finished manufactured products.
- Utilize inspection tools such as micrometers, indicators, digital height gage and comparators, as needed.
- Identify and report discrepancies with standard, placing all nonconforming product on hold.
- May create, maintain and file inspection logs and quality documents.
- May audit manufacturing technician inspection logs and SPC charts, verifying with product samples.
- Assist with or perform First Articles, Gage R&R and Capability Studies, etc.
- Assist in training manufacturing team to follow inspection instructions and in the use of inspection equipment.
- May work with chemicals during required testing and various other duties.
- Interact with and perform tasks in the production areas.
- Basic understanding of blueprint reading and inspection techniques.
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and deadlines.
- Good reading, comprehension, math and problem‑solving skills.
- Visual acuity (20/20 vision or corrective lenses).
- Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Endurance for routine, repetitive inspection tasks.
- Able to work well independently and cooperatively with teams.
- Capable of completing applicable training on measurement/inspection equipment, technical math and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (dependent upon job assignment).
- Excellent organizational skills, self‑motivated, able to effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Strong ability to professionally communicate using both verbal and written skills.
- Candidates must be able to work rotating shifts of daylight, afternoon and midnight shifts (with a 10% shift premium for working non‑daylight shifts) and stand 8 hours per day.
- High school diploma or equivalent
