Job purpose
Operate heavy equipment to support safe, efficient movement of aggregate materials and assist with daily plant operations and maintenance activities. This role supports production goals by operating equipment, conducting inspections, and assisting with preventative maintenance and general plant upkeep.
Duties and responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment to support safe and efficient movement of aggregate materials.
- Assist with daily plant operations and preventative maintenance activities to support production and safety goals.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including greasing equipment, replacing belts, changing screens, cleaning, and general plant housekeeping.
- Operate light equipment and support equipment-related tasks as needed.
- Conduct pre- and post-shift inspections of plant equipment and work areas.
- Follow all safety procedures and comply with applicable MSHA regulations and company policies.
- Identify, report, and assist in addressing equipment, plant, and safety issues.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Communicate plant and equipment concerns to plant leadership and operators.
- Work effectively as part of a team to support plant operations.
- Travel to other job locations as required.
- Work extended and non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends, as required.
- Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Safe operation of heavy and mobile equipment.
- Plant equipment hazards and safe work practices.
- Basic preventative maintenance procedures.
- MSHA regulations and applicable safety requirements.
- Operate heavy and light equipment safely and efficiently.
- Identify potential equipment or operational issues and assist with repairs.
- Follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
- Maintain safety standards and follow company procedures.
- Ability to work safely in a production environment.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to perform physical labor and equipment-related tasks.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate various types of equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certificate or degree in heavy equipment operation preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of heavy equipment operation experience preferred.
- Constant (67–100%) required to climb stairs and ladders.
- Constant (67–100%) required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Constant (67–100%) required to safely enter and exit equipment.
- Constant (67–100%) required to sit for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally (0–33%) required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally (0–33%) required to work in field environments with exposure to dust, noise, vibrations, petroleum products, and extreme weather conditions.
- Occasionally (0–33%) required to shovel and perform manual labor tasks.
- Occasionally (0–33%) required to walk and work on uneven terrain.
