What a day looks like

You’ll move from blueprint to bench, planning fabrication steps from sketches and models, machining components on lathes, mills, and grinders, then assembling and proving out tooling. Along the way, you’ll diagnose issues, make smart design tweaks, and verify every critical dimension with precision instruments.

Your core responsibilities

Translate sketches/blueprints/specs/models into build plans that balance safety, accuracy, and throughput.

Set up and run manual machine tools (lathe, milling machine, grinder) to produce components to spec; verify conformance.

Assemble and rework tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges using both hand and machine tools.

Create templates and jigs that speed repeatable fabrication.

Troubleshoot die performance; perform repairs and operate dies and progressive dies during validation.

Inspect with dial indicators, gauge blocks, calipers, micrometers, and similar instruments to ensure tolerance compliance.

Review existing/legacy tooling and recommend construction or functional design improvements.

Develop specs from general concepts and sketch proposed tool designs.

Maintain a clean, organized workspace aligned to 6S standards.

Take on related tasks as needed to support production goals.

Schedule and location

This is an on-site role at our Trevose, PA facility. Standard hours: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM EDT.What you bring

High school diploma or equivalent plus 3+ years of relevant toolroom experience; an Associate degree or vocational certificate in Tool & Die is preferred.

Strong knowledge of machine tools—their setup, operation, maintenance—and sound understanding of design methods and tooling principles.

Fluency reading prints, tolerances, and GD&T; skilled use of micrometers, indicators, height gauges, and related metrology tools.

Solid math and trigonometry skills applied to layout and machining.

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand basic English.

Physical demands

Occasional standing, walking, or sitting; frequent hand use to handle/feel parts and tools; reaching; stair climbing; balancing; and at times stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Communication (talk/hear) and, when required, taste/smell. Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 35 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
