Injection Molding Operator I
Operates various equipment and performs duties related to the goals of the injection molding department. All the following functions will be performed to maintain optimum cycle times and production rates consistent with GT's quality standards.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Comply with all federal and state environmental, health and safety regulations as well as any safety policies and protocols outlined by the company.
- Operate multiple injection molding machines as directed by supervisor or charge hand. This does not include setups, mold changes or material changes.
- Operate trimming, de-gating, drilling machines as required. This includes the lathes.
- Set up and operate X-ray testing equipment as required.
- Set up and operate trimming, drilling and notching machines with accuracy and efficiency. Perform assembly of components as needed. This could include using the clicker.
- Perform first article, in process and final inspection of components as required to achieve acceptable reliability and repeatability targets. Use proper measuring equipment that include, but are not limited to, gauges, micrometers, comparator, automatic electronic measuring devices and other measuring equipment as required.
- Load, set-up and unload ovens.
- Count and package parts as required. (using scale, if necessary)
- Record all Information on GT data collection system as required.
- Transport work in process and finished goods, within and between departments and warehouses as necessary.
- Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor including active participation in team meetings for operational planning and improvement ideas.
Other Responsibilities:
- Maintain good housekeeping in work areas.
- QC inspection certification required
- Ability to read and understand blueprints as required for inspection
- Must have the ability to read, understand and perform the work instructions in all operations
- Perform all miscellaneous duties in the injection molding area as directed by supervisor/charge hand
- TPM. Monitor machine and auxiliary equipment functions and report problems to supervisor or charge hand.
- Perform job in compliance with company's Quality Policy (ISO 9000 and AS9100).
- Maintain part quality standards.
Qualifications and
Education Requirements:
- High school Diploma / GED or equivalent experience
- Demonstrate proficiency upon completion of up to 30 working day trial training and evaluation period (may be ongoing until achievement is met).
- Must be proficient with operating a workstation computer including searching, saving and editing files and with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Requires the ability to read and interpret work orders, product specifications, work instructions and other related product information.
- Must have basic math skills and be able to maintain daily record of production, defects, down time, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to independently read and interpret production drawings, work instructions, Company documents and other specified requirements essential for performing standard job functions
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in positions requiring sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, stooping and reaching.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 55 lbs. without the use of mechanical lifting devices or help from others.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, eye protection, gloves and arm guards.
